Want to learn how to fly or just have questions?

about us

If you are from out of town and would like to fly the Central Coast situated in the Gosford / Wyong / lower Hunter area you will need to become a member of the CCSS Club as a “visiting pilot”. Of course, you must already have current membership with the SAFA as an Australian or visiting overseas pilot.

Download our membership form at the Club website and tick the visiting pilot box. Contact info for our many Safety Officers is also on the site.

Visitor membership is free of charge and means we can ensure you receive a comprehensive site safety briefing before you fly. We also need to keep a log of all pilots flying our sites so we can prove to the relevant authorities just how popular our sport is and hence keep our flying sites open!

We directly manage four sites in National Parks at Crackneck Lookout Bateau Bay, Cromarty Hill Forresters Beach, Moonee Moonee Beach and Wybung Headland and fly informally from several other coastal locations.

We also co-manage with the Newcastle Hang Gliding Club the beautiful Lake St Clair in the Hunter Valley and Catherine Hill Bay.

We work cooperatively with several hang and para gliding schools and can facilitate an introduction to these professionals.

Our members fly hang gliders, paragliders and microlights…some of us are tri-wingual!.

We fly on the coast at our local sites and travel often for weekends as a social group north and south to fly Stanwell Park, Northern Beaches and the Mid North Coast sites around Laurieton and Port Macquarie. Every second year or so we venture up to Rainbow Beach in Queensland for a week and fly en route at Byron Bay.

We drive to fly inland at Manilla, Corryong, Wellington, The Watagans, Broke, Gulgong, Hooley Dooley, Lake St Clair, Blackheath, Tumut, Johns River and Denman both recreationally and in competitions. We use aero tow, static tow, scooter tow, vehicle tow and good old fashioned mountain launches to get in the air

Come fly with us – we are family friendly and often camp as a group to share the stories from the day.
